E.40 Building a Business as a Food Stylist in France with the Pineapple Chef

Elise Dumas is a food stylist and photographer with works published in French food magazines. Today, she also shares her own recipes that promote healthy gastronomy. Her authentic recipes are inspired by foods all over the world and use high-quality ingredients and seasonal local products.

Listen in as Elise shares her tips on taking initiative when building your own business.

In this week’s talk show, we are talking about fully committing to what you do, relying on others while being independent, taking initiative, and most importantly, having patience.

Elise knows the importance of relying on a community - she was inspired by the works of other artists in her field, so now she is giving back and is open to sharing her secrets of success to whoever wishes to learn. After all, she believes that if you are good at what you do, you shouldn’t be afraid to share what you know; there is space for everyone.

Elise has very helpful tips when getting your name out there as a beginner. She advises to, take initiative, buy the merchandise of brands you wish to work for, style them, and get noticed. In her case, sharing her project on Instagram with her followers resulted in brands noticing her work. It is good to be in the movement, she says, send out good energy and the good things you put out will come back to you.

Elise has one last advice for you, our dear readers, is to be patient and positive. Everyone has to start from the beginning and work their way up. Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to, your clients are not always going to have the same style as you do or want to pay you the amounts that you want, but that’s okay because no job is perfect. Remember, use your good energy to be active. If it is meant to be, then it’s meant to be. If you truly believe in the profession you want, just do it. In the end, you would lose nothing because you would have created something beautiful if you succeed. Your day will come.
